To make any chores easier whether it is cooking, cleaning, ironing or laundry, I always have music playing in the background and it makes everything a lot easier! I don't know whether it is a psychological thing where you are not thinking too much about the chores in front of you instead immersed into the music.
I have also recently recruited my nearly 3 year old to get chores done and he loves it! I get him to take the washing out from the washing machine or get him to hold the clothes to help me fold them. He loves being a part of the team and sometimes we even have competitions to see who is quicker; daddy or my toddler! Makes everything a lot of fun.

MissMary • 21/04/2020 - 16:02

Dear savvy circler Bix, sounds super cute! We would love to see a video of your toddler helping out! 😊

Looboo • 17/04/2020 - 17:44

I enjoy cleaning my home I love that people come in and tell how nice my house smells and looks. Always open ur windows in morning. Quick make of the beds and spritz with zoflora diluted. My kids love helping me clean up I give them their own little jobs to do. If u keep on top of it no dust gathers. I use dettol disenfectant spray to clean my glass tv stand as leaves no smears.

roza72 • 17/04/2020 - 17:45

Brandsman • 17/04/2020 - 17:45

Wonderful time to do a real spring clean. We've found the use of vinegar to be excellent as a cleaning medium. Top tip. All that limescale in the loo? Tip some vinegar in to the water at the bottom the bowl and leave for a few hours. You'll see the bubbles rising as the acetic acid in the vinegar reacts with and and removes the limescale. Environmentally friendly, too!

Annalou22 • 17/04/2020 - 17:58

Sometimes the house cleaning can particularly seem overwhelming. I tend to start in one room and work my way through such as living room into the hall and then into the kitchen. Music on in the background helps keep me focused and having all the bits I need such as cloths, hoover cleaning products etc at hand. A hinch list is always helpful if there are multiple things you need to do as well as giving yourself a boost when you can tick it off. I'm trying to use this extra time to do all the little things that are sometimes neglected such as cleaning skirting boards which I use a diluted fabric softner and water spray which leaves the house smelling great.

angelica06 • 17/04/2020 - 18:11

I find it definitely helps listening to podcasts it adds a bit of fun while I’m cleaning. Save your favorite podcasts for cleaning time so you’re looking forward to listening to the latest episode. Its a great way to have more fun cleaning and gives me the added motivation I certainly need.

Peterspencer • 17/04/2020 - 18:11

I feel that I need to clean the carpets with a carpet cleaner and that will make me feel fresh afterwards.
I do not normally think about cleaning carpets with a washing vacuum but will try it.

Hancocbe • 17/04/2020 - 18:17

Anything to make cleaning easy. I don’t mind the cleaning I just hate sorting cupboards and wardrobes.

JenniSarah • 17/04/2020 - 18:41

I love having a clean house and always put a podcast or music on while I clean, the one thing I hate is cleaning inside the oven but recently I got koh cleaner and it only took me a couple minutes to clean the glass of all the dirty marks, and it can be used everywhere!! My house is never fully clean until it smells amazing so always put new wax in my Scentsy warmers when finished love it!!

hannah_norton39 • 17/04/2020 - 19:16

I love cleaning, I have never mopped and hovered so much. Oh and cleaned the toilet 🤦‍♀️ my stock pile of cleaning products is slowly disappearing though 😪😂 just started using mr sheen on my mirrors I cant believe how great they come up now smears

sadafoan • 17/04/2020 - 19:17

me and my partner clean the house but my partner gets so much angry when he saw my hair everywhere. even our vacuum cleaner does not suck them properly from the carpet. the other problem that i faced is fungus in the bathroom due to moisture that stay inside although we open the window and use fungus spray. so really want so tips and tricks from you guys.

Hinchwannabe • 17/04/2020 - 19:20

Since lockdown started I’m all about making sure I’m on top of it all. I’ve ordered more vacuum storage bags and drawer organisers and I’m determined to Marie kondo my drawers. I decided to freshen up all the paintwork in the house and I’ve zoflora dotted in spray bottles in every room!!

MissMary • 21/04/2020 - 16:46

Dear savvy circler Hinchwannabe, that is a serious list of to-dos! Enjoy and share the progress with us! 😊

LisaWall • 17/04/2020 - 19:36

I like to set myself a challenge when I clean so I set a timer on my fitbit for certain tasks. Cleaning the kitchen after tea for example say 45 mins. I also set a timer for an hour and see how much I can achieve in the time, rewarding myself with a coffee break or tech break. Music also helps motivate me, cleaning and singing certainly helps me to keep going. The reward of a lovely clean and tidy environment is the best feeling ever ❤

Mrscrossin • 17/04/2020 - 19:53

I always have a little spruce morning and night but do one big clean once a week, I have a special playlist for my cleaning named "sing out loud". For me cleaning is a stress reliever and I love the end results. Last hut not least I finish every room with a blast of zaflora 😊😊

MissMary • 21/04/2020 - 16:51

Dear savvy circler Mrscrossin, we would love to get hold of that playlist!

Lizwa • 17/04/2020 - 20:04

Currently cleaning is helping me maintain my 10,000 steps a day . My main hacks are using lemon juice for lime scale and baby oil to give my taps a good shine.

kezz1 • 17/04/2020 - 20:45

I love using fragrance cleaning wipes, which leaves a pleasent smell in my house, I love to start with all the surfaces around then use carpet cleaner over my mats let it settle before cleaning the form off, leaving a clean fragrance and a better life to my carpets and with a clean home it keeps me going mentally and physical, so the walking around the home includes a small but worth it workout. And any product with lavender is great for me I love the fragrance all around my home.

mariolka84 • 17/04/2020 - 21:13

My top tip to have a fun and make the cleaning more easy when you got 16 months old following everywhere would be to make a fun i give my toddler clean cloth so he can join me cleaning the floors or doing a bit of damp dust this would be mine tip if you got children 👶

Karm • 17/04/2020 - 21:43

Ive been de cluttering my kitchen cupboards and I have found it quite therapeutic especially with some good tunes in the background

Zia • 17/04/2020 - 22:15

setting myself a jobs list in my head is my fav way top get cleaning tasks done its helps you no where to begin!

beccacooluk • 17/04/2020 - 22:21

Getting the kids to help can make cleaning more fun , good tips too if you run out of cleaning products is make your own with vinegar and baking soda for example , it can sometimes work better than regular cleaning products.

MissMary • 21/04/2020 - 16:55

Dear savvy circler beccacooluk, thank you for sharing your top tip with us! 😊

Fairyfeet • 18/04/2020 - 01:00

I like to listen to Gold as the music they play brings back memories of the good old days. I can have a dance while I am dusting or vacuuming when a favourite song comes on. I like to dust once a week and sweep the floor every day (I have a young cat that sheds a lot of fur and it is surprising the amount of fluff that comes from such a small creature). I use Zoflora disinfectant because I like the fresh smell of their products and orange oil for the dusting as it protects the wood furniture I inherited from my parents.

Joanne2008xxx • 18/04/2020 - 01:48

I love a good spring clean dancing around singing into the hoover and love trying products with new aromas I always try to rub down my couch with a slightly damp cloth with a bit of zoflora gets rid of my cat hairs and leaves if smelling fresh

partyfearstwo • 18/04/2020 - 10:37

I always keep a pack of Huggies wipes handy to safely wipe off any spillages on leather furniture and they are great for dusting too.

shazzababbs • 18/04/2020 - 11:00

I'm sure like most I sometimes struggle with finding the motivation to get the chores started but ince I get going I cant stop, I think some people get sore tracked and maybe try and take on too much at once and find it all overwhelming, so my tip would always be, take your cleaning bit and focus on 1 room at a time and just aim to complete that room rather than starting to dust, hoover etc throughout, I have adopted this new method and quite often find myself going onto several other rooms or try to achieve the upstairs having a good clean and doing the downstairs the following day, even though sometimes I find it hard to motivate, I think there is no better feeling than sitting down in the evening knowing you've got some clean rooms, I also try to do a load of washing each day, this way i find i never get too much of a back log plus its easier in the summer as things dry quicker.

MissMary • 21/04/2020 - 17:01

Dear savvy circler shazzababbs, thank you for sharing! Breaking down the chores per room, floor or task can really help to find motivation. 😊

MargaretMia • 18/04/2020 - 19:02

I like to do one room top to bottom at a time and I have a list of jobs that I can tick off and feel happy with my work 😺

Zia • 19/04/2020 - 20:48

don't think to cleaning as a chore just think of the end results have a vision of how you would like a room to look then start in one area work your way around the room and break it up into sections then it won't feel as daunting try decluttering first taking things out of the room that don't actually belong their then tackle the 'cleaning'! make it as enjoyable as possible even if its not your idea of fun!

oncewasblonde • 19/04/2020 - 21:01

I always listen to music and practice my singing at the moment while my choir cannot get together or perform. I'm used to being alone a lot at home anyway, pre Covid, due to long term illness. I love cleaning, always have but I recommend dividing your chores up, try not to look at the trying to get the whole house done in one go as it an be overwhelming, start with one cupboard or one room or even just one area of a room to be cleaned and tidied. Do it in small bites, try to have fun but stay focused, take regular breaks and reward yourself afterwards!

Stephmc80 • 19/04/2020 - 23:48

Today I cleaned my windows and patio doors, with the old tea bags I used to make the brews with. I put all the teabags in a tubber ware pot, with cold warm water, used a cloth to clean them then dried them with a tea towel, and they come up spotless.

supastar1501 • 20/04/2020 - 00:06

I definitely find that cleaning with music on helps me to be more productive. My choice varies depending on my mood, but something I can sing along to with a good beat helps me be/feel more able to achieve! My girls like to listen to George Ezra if they are helping too! X

Mrs_at_Mill_House • 20/04/2020 - 11:15

Cleaning is slightly tricky with husband and two teenagers at home and although they are all keeping busy they get in the way when I am cleaning. I can't do my usual big clean so have been keeping on top of things and doing something every day. The bathrooms all get a wipe down each day & both teenagers have to clean the shower glass as they leave their shower. Kitchen also gets frequent wipes down during the day but my favourite tip is giving the all beds and all cushions, throws & soft furnishings a good spray with Febreze. Not forgetting the dog bed!! Everything then smells fresh and clean all day. Seem to be using so much more than normal at the moment :)

wulise • 20/04/2020 - 14:54

For me the cleaning of the kitchen is fun, but it does drive me mad when my husband does wipe up after himself. I have got into a fun routine of now clearing any thing left dying by putting away. The I spray down all the work surface, clean the sink and draining board. Then I can get the bleach out, water it down and then wipe the surface, cupboards, drawers and any appliances. I find it fun as I can talk to myself, have a moan where no one can hear me as well as talk to my dog or cat. I find this very cathartic. My husband is not the tidiest of people at home but I hate to moan at him as he is a frontline Staff Nurse working long hours caring for others who need him at such a scary time. I worry for him, so as a reward for all my cleaning, I can then know it is safe to bake, it is a fun reward for me as I love cooking, and he then gets a reward when he gets home in the form of a cake, freshly baked bread or a pie for tea.
So for me, doing a chore that is not always fun gets rewarded by a treat. If the chore is hard then I get a big rewards or if it just sorting and doing the washing, then it is small like a cup of coffee. That's my best advice when it comes to cleaning. (I love cleaning the bathrooms so that is never a chore for me!)

Randallmum • 20/04/2020 - 15:11

I find keeping a list helps me as I can go back and tick it off when I’m done which is very satisfying! And dancing/singing away at the same time of course!! I also use febreze all over the flat to freshen things up as I always feel better when there is a pleasant smell around 💛

MissMary • 21/04/2020 - 17:12

Dear savvy circler Randallmum, thank you for sharing your tips! 😊

MunchKim • 21/04/2020 - 10:32

Make sure to use products you really enjoy the smell of, there's so much choice out there these days that there's something for everyone and making your home smell lovely is a handy bonus to keeping it clean!

MissMary • 21/04/2020 - 17:14

Dear savvy circler MunchKim, that is a great advice! Thank you for sharing! 😊

ilovecooking • 21/04/2020 - 16:03

I spray lemon juice onto a cloth to clean my shower screen which does a great job of cleaning off the limescale in hard water areas like ours.I scrub lightly with a green scrubbing cloth and when I have gone over it a couple of times until it feels smooth I then use the shower head to rinse it off. It also smells lovely afterwards
I also use zoflora diluted in a spray bottle and spray as an air fresher around the house.

ilovecooking • 21/04/2020 - 16:09

I also write a list and get great satisfaction as I tick the jobs off when done.I play music also and have decluttered my entire house in the last few weeks. The satisfaction I get the next day at looking at my newly cleaned house is brilliant and stops me getting too bored.

Liza-M-B82 • 22/04/2020 - 01:46

The best song is
HOUSE WORK -BY JAX JONES
Funky ,fun ,energetic , and gets you dancing around and vleaning on the go or summer summer time
By will Smith great song all.yeat round to do the cleaning to as you remover all the fun we have in the summer what to look forward to in the winter and most of all the smell of spring and summer makes ME clean my house with that brush clean clear blue sky feeling of clean, karma and happy

Agnes • 22/04/2020 - 16:27

Just best time for cleaning, when your children with daddy go in the park... Michael Jackson on max voice and clean, clean....

tyngaz • 22/04/2020 - 17:07

Always have music on and start with the least cluttered room. Also when clearing your wardrobe put your clothes on the bed, that way they have to be sorted before you get into it

ChitC • 22/04/2020 - 19:43

Me too during the actual situation have started to find something to do everyday around the house to keep my sanity. I am quite a clean freak anyway, but I should stay in the right boundaries for my partner's sake😁. I try to use less non-bio products, and tend to combine usual cleaning products with things I usually have in my cleaning cupboard(vinegar, bicarbonate of soda), and of course I tend to use more of disinfectants than usually, because bleach might stain/ruin textils around. And yes, I always listen some music to fully relax 😊
P.S. Recently I started to think we need new painting in the house, but haven't had the courage to start the works as it implies the landlord's acceptance. 😅😅

shel62 • 22/04/2020 - 20:51

I love to clean daily rather than a big clean once a week i find this helps me keep on top of the housework and makes it so much easier and quicker to do and less mundane. Top tip also wipe some neat zoflora over your radiators for a beautiful smell once the heating is on

Not_anothergreyhome • 23/04/2020 - 01:37

Honestly music gets me through all though I can’t exactly blast it & sing my heart out need to listen out for the 1 year old Tasmanian devil 😂 my only tip I live by when things are getting too much is , tidy first de clutter after.
I think we try and do everything at once and sometimes it’s just impossible take your time clean 1 room a day once all rooms have been done set little tasks to keep on top of them , then de clutter ! 💕

MW • 24/04/2020 - 13:45

I listen to some 90s pop and 80s pop while cleaning up and I make cleaning fun by using cocoa cola, lemon juice, vinegar and Baking soda to make a solution for rust in my bathroom dissolve by coating the rusted part in baking soda and then pouring vinegar on top after that all I do is wraps a cloth around the part to contain the solution then I finally pour the Coca-Cola on top then leave it to rest for a day or half a day to let the solution be effective.

Once you have let it rest for at least half a day, you can see the end results by taking off the cloth and scrubbing off all that rust growing/spreading with hot water and lemon juice together to get the rust off the hard to reach areas.

edzia • 26/04/2020 - 17:54

I think housework can be fun – is possible.
I am doing cleaning with my 2 kids sometimes with my partner too (if he is not working).
We always put music on; many times we are dancing and cleaning.
This way cleaning is done much faster and you have so much fun, it is very important when you have kids.
I want to teach my children independence but also to know how things need to be done. I want them see the way I do and also that cleaning can give real pleasure.
So far so good 

Vulcan78 • 28/04/2020 - 11:37

I’m an avid cleaner, strangely I thoroughly enjoy making my home spotless. I’ve got some great tips:
To get all of your rooms smelling nice use a dry cloth (I usually use a micro fibre one) and pour on some fabric softener, use it to wipe down all of your radiators. Not only will the damp clean any dirt or dust but when the radiators heat up your home will smell lovely.
When cleaning the microwave, put half a lemon or small cup of vinegar inside for 20 seconds. The insides will wipe clean easily.
When cleaning chrome, especially in your bathrooms don’t use chemicals. It can strip it and corrode it. Instead use toilet roll or kitchen roll to buff up the shine and they’ll be as good as new!

radgie • 28/04/2020 - 13:49

I've never been one for housework but having all this time on my hand I've been cleaning mad, then I realised my hands were so dry and chapped so I bought my first pair of lovely red marigolds and was so impressed at how soft they made my hands. I've also been using a marigold crystal clear window cleaning cloth which doesn't just stop at windows, its fantastic to give a once over, leaves everything sparkling. The other household staple for stubborn dirt or marks is those magic white sponges, a friend introduced me to them and I bought a pack of 8 at Aldi, they were less than £2 for 8. They even cleaned my brass door number as good as brasso. For the toilet I swear by Harpic tablets, nothing gets rid of the grime better.

Marsha • 29/04/2020 - 23:24

My 6 year old loves to help and has asked for a list of jobs in the house to keep busy. She is a better duster than my partner and loves to be helpful. The extra pocket money is building up too

marilo • 30/04/2020 - 12:46

I love cleaning its brilliant when its all done

Tjt • 30/04/2020 - 14:02

I love listening to a variety of tunes with my headphones on especially the 80s such a great era I love using shak a vac cleaner on the carpets its a bargain at a pound and makes house smell amazing on a budget I love cleaning nothing beats the amazing scent around the house knowing you achieved a brilliant result 💖😀x

eva75 • 30/04/2020 - 15:02

Music is a power, it makes me happy or it calms me down, depends what I pick. Currently I enjoy for example Sufjan Stevens - Mystery of love, Berlin - Take my breath away, The Temptations - Night and Day, Vanessa Williams - Safe the best for last, The Bangles - Eternal flame, Lionell Richie and Diana Ross - Endless love and many more..

mani47 • 01/05/2020 - 22:17

We like listening to the radio for nice songs that get our bodies moving when we're doing the house cleaning.

Emanuela • 05/05/2020 - 14:14

Hope all you readers are doing well during this difficult times,, for me my power is my family,, we are really enjoying make sparkle our house and cleaning all together, I was always a good housekeeper and now my girls my 13 year old and my 4 year old are helping me a lot,,, they both love to have music around when they are doing cleaning works (of course my baby girl is doing little special cleaning work like dusting her shelf with a dry cloth usually with a micro fibre cloth) and my other daughter is hoovering around and washing her bedroom floor with nice, safe and organic product for the environment! For me everything is fun when is about cleaning even when is bathrooms which I'm cleaning everyday and try to make it more shiny and 100% clean!!

Swallow65 • 07/05/2020 - 18:31

I generally love buzzing around the house cleaning but it’s getting a bit monotonous at the moment ,,chores chores chores I’ll try some of these tips to help motivate me .thanks

MissMary • 12/05/2020 - 13:05

Dear savvy circler Swallow65, happy to hear that you find the tips inspiring! 😊

Lucyfur6669 • 08/05/2020 - 07:33

I always do my cleaning to Planet Rock radio, it makes the time go quicker!

lilchick2020 • 16/05/2020 - 11:05

I find music helps. To help concentrate my mind. To keep it going. Lol. But if anything it depends on the task. If it's stubborn I love those magic sponges, I use them wet or else they fall to pieces. I found huge ones in pound shop. But sometimes buy the flash ones if on sale.

Kathlyne • 27/05/2020 - 13:26

Old toilet Brushes, I put Toilet cleaner around the pan then pop the toilet brush in the toilet and shut the lid, leave it to soak and hey presto it becomes clean, also I found that Detol All in One in a can cleans the windows very well
