ActivRepair Technology

activrepair

Most Oral health problems (like teeth sensitivity, discolouration and bad breath) originate from issues with your gums or enamel. Oral-B Gum & Enamel Repair is clinically proven to help rejuvenate gums and repair enamel, and targets the WHOLE mouth rather than just focussing on one area! But how does it do this?

Well, it's the first toothpaste to use ActivRepair technology which works at the gum line to target both gum and enamel problems. What does this mean?

1) The ActivRepair technology provides antibacterial action, stopping bacterial growth in the gums. This helps to keep your gums healthy, and reduce irritation.

2) It also actively remineralises weakened enamel, and creates a long-lasting protective shield to defend teeth against acid erosion.

Many of us have been commenting that we can feel a 'residue' or 'film' in our mouth after brushing. What we're feeling is actually the ActivRepair technology in action, which is forming a protective shield around our enamel. This layer is what shields our teeth from food and drink that would normally weaken our enamel during the day, and helps to reduce the signs of teeth aging.

Have you been talking to your friends and family about ActivRepair technology? Well remember to keep submitting your Ask Your Friends Sheet and Conversation Reports to let the brand team know what they thought!

@all: Let's share what we think of ActivRepair Technology, and how we think it compares to other toothpastes we've used before.

My teeth are certainly whiter, but think it will take more time to build up sensitivity effectively. I do like the product but after a month I still don't feel I can give a firm opinion. Still undecided.

Although I am still not too keen on the taste I do really like the results. My teeth feel cleaner and fresher than others I`v used.My husband loves everything about it especially how less sensitive his teeth are to certain things now

I have actually gotten used to the taste now and quite like it. My front tooth definitely feels less sensitive and I had a mark on one of my teeth and this has actually faded so it definitely seems to be cleaning better than my previous toothpaste. I would be tempted to continue using it, I just wish it was a little less expensive

I'm getting used to this now, others in the household seem to like it but especially my husband.

My husband and I remain very impressed with this toothpaste and intend to carry on using it. Also think it is very good value for money especially with the money off coupon.

Love this toothpaste, especially the taste. My teeth feel stronger and less sensitive. They also feel so much cleaner. Unfortunately my sample ran out today and I've had to go back to my old toothpaste until I get to the shops. It's only now I appreciate how good oral b is compared to other toothpaste.

I really like this toothpaste, it has a nice mild flavour, my teeth feel clean all day, they are not as sensitive and my gums look better. I am very impressed so far and can only recommend this.

Another great Oral B product . Experiencing less sensitivity and a visit last week to my dental hygienist was a nicer experience!
She was happy and commented on the healthy appearance of my gums so this appears to be working.

Husband and son use it and seem happy with the odd comment about the taste.
Overall so far so good.

I think that my teeth feel a little smoother, but haven't noticed any difference in my gums (in fact they have got worse if anything). I bought and tried the whitening version, but didn't notice any significant difference in whitening. I'm not too keen on the taste and texture, but it does remind me of the toothpaste that is used at my dentist, so perhaps it is doing me good!

I have used the sample myself and have found my teeth are less sensitive,I am not keen on the frothy feel if the paste, however I gave my sister and her family the second tube and they are very pleased with it ,so much that they have bought more using the vouchers

I am really pleased with this toothpaste and my teeth feel cleaner and mouth fresher. I do like a whitening toothpaste though as do many of my friends and can't help wondering why the samples sent to us were not the whitening variant? I think people who buy toothpaste are from 2 sections. One section are not bothered what paste they use as long as it is cheap and they feel they have brushed their teeth. The other section are those who pay that little bit more for a specialist paste. Whether it is a sensitive paste or a whitening paste or one to strengthen gums/enamel surely the whitening version would have ticked all these boxes?

Update.... Positive feedback being related to myself from many people after trying a same of the toothpaste. I think it would have been great if the kit came with some.small samples to pass out and a few more coupons. I myself still love this toothpaste and really enjoy sharing my views with others and hearing theirs. A few have commented the 'skin' texture left after brushing is their let down and just couldn't get past it. I on the other hand agree with the majority of people I have spoken to that it's a small thing to overcome when my whole mouth is left fresh and really clean.

Briamand

Briamand • 31/07/2017 - 09:39

I have been using it for over 2 weeks now and my mouth does feel fresher for longer. I have found though that when I open the toothpaste each time it is a little runny and I have to be quick to put in on the toothbrush. I am using the sensitive toothpaste, as I have been using other makes of sensitive for about a year. I assume it is working as my teeth are not anymore sensitive than they were before.

I am not sure yet if this is something that I would buy as it is quite expensive and I am not sure whether it is making a big enough difference. Though I guess longer usage will help with that decision.

I've experienced sensitivity for many years. Since using this toothpaste both sensitivity and redness around gum line has noticeably reduced. I'm impressed!

I have noticed a difference when drinking cold drinks. it's not pain free, but it is definitely a lot less painful

Wormcake101

Wormcake101 • 31/07/2017 - 13:44

I have been using the Oral B toothpaste consistently since receiving the kit. I love the taste and the texture but has anyone else noticed that the skin on the inside of your mouth peels off after using Oral B? I have noticed this with other Oral B products as well.. It's not painful just slightly odd.

Clara29

Clara29 • 31/07/2017 - 14:00

This Oral B toothpaste cleans well and leaves my teeth feeling "squeaky". Unfortunately not only are my teeth not whiter but they are no less sensitive and I have noticed that the inside of my mouth is left very dry and the skin comes away, really strange! It makes me question how harsh this toothpaste is, so it's not something I would continue using I'm afraid.

kaizen99

kaizen99 • 31/07/2017 - 14:32

The toothpaste feels more 'gritty' than most toothpastes I have used in the past. This said, the flavour of mint is not overpowering and a major asset for people like me who do not like the astringency of most toothpastes. I had been using a sensitive toothpaste before this one and my sensitivity has not returned when I switched to this toothpaste about 3 weeks' ago. My tooth cleanliness and whiteness has not changed.

Amanda123

Amanda123 • 31/07/2017 - 14:56

Despite using for the last 2+weeks I still can't get used to the taste and texture. When I first used it I felt as though it 'warmed' in my mouth and this was off putting, this still happens but I accept that. Can't say I've noticed that my teeth are any less sensitive/whiter etc. My main concern is strengthening my existing enamel and I can't say I've noticed any difference but not sure how I would check this! As far as toothpastes go its ok and probably does the job it says it does, but I just can't get used to the taste and texture so will be sticking with my usual brand which claims to do pretty much the same as this one. I will pass the remained of my tube onto family/friends and hope that they have a more positive experience with it.

Luckyscot

Luckyscot • 31/07/2017 - 14:56

My teeth feel cleaner but no more brighter than before. my main concern is how dries out my mouth and the taste is not the best.

Its a shame as if they managed to get the taste better and sort out the reason for the dry mouth then it would be good.

The toothpaste is really not inspiring me to change brands.

Amanda123

Amanda123 • 31/07/2017 - 14:58

Forgot to add to my earlier comment - small tubes like those you used to get on planes (travel size) would have been more helpful to pass onto friends/family rather than a full size paste. As the price isn't that cheap even with the money off coupon I think people are put off trying in it case they don't like it and are stuck with a full size tube of wasted toothpaste!

Feel slightly let down by this toothpaste as an avid user of sensodyne I was hoping that this toothpaste would be perfect competition for them however I found my teeth although they were clean fresh and noticeable difference in my gums my teeth themselves have become far too sensitive even sweet things now cause me pain. Stuck it out for over 2 weeks but couldn't cope anymore and have switched back to sensodyne. However I will be getting advice from my dentist on if the sensitivity is being caused by something else and not the toothpaste

After using this toothpaste over two weeks now, I am impressed with how the teeth looks cleaner and the way it leaves the mouth feeling fresh, but I am really not keen on the taste. Still unsure as to the sensitivity.

harris7140

harris7140 • 01/08/2017 - 07:44

I was a bit dubious of this toothpaste at first as I was not happy with the initial gritty taste it leaves. However using it for few weeks my thoughts have changed and I can feel the difference in both my gums and teeth. I suffer with sensitive teeth and I have noticed that I have not as much since using it.

ladysal83

ladysal83 • 01/08/2017 - 08:00

I like the flavour it's not too strong and it makes my teeth feel cleaner for longer than my previous toothpaste did. Can't say the sensitivity is gone but it has improved, only time will tell really. The only down side for me is that my gums are peeling occasionally since I used this toothpaste, is that normal?

Mojoly

Mojoly • 01/08/2017 - 09:43

I have to say that I haven't seen or experienced any signs of ActivRepair and, after continuous use, my sensitivity is coming back.

My usual brand does an excellent job in terms of keeping sensitivity at bay and, frankly, OralB just isn't as good.

I've seen no discernable difference in my gums or teeth.

I will finish the tube but I'm afraid I won't be switching brands.

hettie • 01/08/2017 - 10:46

it's been a couple of weeks now using oral B but as much as i like it i have to admit that today when i rinsed with cold water, ( instead of warm ) i still experienced pain as i did befor and also the same with sweet food so i,ll keep using it and give it more time to hopefully help with my sensitivity.

Smithy10

Smithy10 • 01/08/2017 - 11:27

I have persevered with this product, but I hate the taste! I prefer a more minty flavour. I also haven't noticed a difference with sensitivity.
I won't be changing to this product.

ajshack • 01/08/2017 - 14:06

Initial thoughts after trying the paste a few times are mostly positive. The taste is good and it seems to linger. A little unsure about the gritty feel of the paste in my mouth but will report back when I have tried it a few more times.

mopsy57

mopsy57 • 01/08/2017 - 16:16

Now into my third week of using this and finding continued improvement. Almost no gum bleeding on teeth cleaning, and like the clean feeling after using. Unlike some, I like the taste as it's not too strong. Went away for a couple of nights last week and forgot to take my toothpaste so had to use what was available - this brought home to me how much I like the gum and enamel repair toothpaste.

sharp5

sharp5 • 01/08/2017 - 16:17

Have tried for a few weeks now...I like the flavour, my teeth do seem less sensitive and feel clean. Not sure if it has repaired gums or enamel, and although it does not suggest it is a whitening toothpaste they do seem a little whiter. When discussing the product to friends it would have been better if supplied with smaller tubes like the ones given by dentists rather than me putting some on their fingers from larger tube , this would also allow them to use for a longer period thus giving honest answers. One friend returned the voucher as she was not prepared to buy the product being rather more expensive than her usual brand.

I'm loving the results. My teeth do actually feel stronger too. I thought that was just a slogan they use in the ad but it's actually true.
Great to reado all the technical information too.
I haven't had any issues with a film in my mouth like some people have.
Tiny samples to give to friends would be a great idea. I saw results straight away and the sensitivity test showed me that.. it's all well and good spreading the word but some people think it's a little expensive to buy even when you tell then how good ithe is. Therefore those people could be converted by actually using it and seeing the results themselves.

After four weeks of using this oral b toothpaste, I love how clean my mouth feels. I still feel some sensitivity when eating G cold foods but it's much improved from when I first started using this toothpaste. I would like to continue with this paste after the sample finishes

Sounds like a good thing, and I'm enjoying using the toothpaste. The enamel shield is especially good for me, as I'm trying to eat more fruit atm, but that means acid, so good to have this to help combat acid erosion

I noticed a film over my gums after using this for a while. I didn't like it. It sloughed off looking like dead skin. Also my tongue cracked and my gum got sore behind one tooth. I've stopped using it for now until it all heals, then I'll try again

I have noticed a definite improvement in tooth sensitivity and bleeding gums since using this toothpaste. Also my teeth feel healthier and look slightly whiter. I normally use OralB Pro Expert, and it's hard to tell much difference with this new product in just a few weeks. It looks, feels and smells pretty much the same, and my teeth feel good but not noticeably different. I don't think they are any whiter, and it's hard to assess any other benefits in just a few weeks. I'll carry on using it though and see how it goes.

I have gotten used to the taste and texture of the original formula sent to me but still wanted to try the mint toothpaste so bought one yesterday in Asda. Although I had a 50p off coupon I about had a heart attack at the cost! I feel £5 is expensive for one tube. I do think it cleans my teeth and they are less sensitive but really don't think I could justify the cost going forward.

I think there is a lot to say about Activ Technology-I actually went for a dental check-up today and my dentist for the first time in many years said what I did not expect to hear and something that he never said before-my teeth are in the good state and that I am looking after them well and that there is no build up of tartar etc...I am absolutely thrilled!!!

After a while of using this toothpaste both my husband and I do like it, but are not totally convinced of any sensitivity reduction. It is strange, but it started quite thick texture but over the last week has gone runny. Am wondering if this is a climate thing given how odd and changeable the weather has been!
